Quick! Read All the'Shadow and Bone' Books Before the Show Drops On Friday
The Netflix series is only the tip of the iceberg. Picture this: you're sitting on your couch, just casually looking through your Netflix queue, and you come across a rather interesting title: Shadow and Bone. You click on it and you're suddenly transported to the Grishaverse, where the nation of Ravka is in a state of despair, fighting for their lives and trying to figure their way through a magical (and dangerous!) border called the Fold. And then there are the Grisha, a group of soldiers who can wield magical powers and operate under the direction of the great General Kirigan (Ben Barnes). This is where a young Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) comes in. Originally thought to not possess any magical power, it turns out she has the most rare of all: harnessing light and using it to her advantage, however she may choose. That sounds totally intriguing, right? Well, I'm not about to spoil the rest of the season, but believe me, there's more to be explored. Once you're done making your way through the entire series, chances are you're going to want another season fast (don't deny it—you definitely will). While we await news on a potential season 2, why don't you take a look at the novels by Leigh Bardugo that inspired the TV adaptation? Just because the season ended, it doesn't mean you can't read what happens next. And as the Grishaverse is made up of two different series, tons of action awaits you. And if there's ever a moment you'll need to dive into a new world, it's right about now.
