My no bake apple crumble is the perfect topping to go onto any type of stewed fruit – and best of all it doesn’t even need to go into the oven. You can eat it raw – even better just 5 mins in a pan to gently toast it 🍎⁠

.⁠
It’s easy to stew apples or pears – just peel them, take out the core, chop into small pieces – for around 6 apples, you’ll need about a teaspoon of cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg/all spice. Plus half cup of water – mix all together in a pan, cover with a lid or piece of grease proof paper, put on low heat for 12 to 15 mins until fruit is soft, and when you stir it breaks down into a mush. You can freeze in small portions or keep in fridge 🍏⁠

In a National Geographic magazine cover story, "The Secrets of a Long Life" Dan Buettner identified five regions as "Blue Zones" where there were high concentrations of individuals over 100 years old, but also clusters of people who had grown old without health problems like heart disease, obesity, cancer, or diabetes.

These Blue Zones are located in: • Sardinia, Italy • Okinawa, Japan • Loma Linda, California • Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica • Icaria, Greece
Buettner provides a list of nine lessons, covering the lifestyle of blue zones people:

In a National Geographic magazine cover story, "The Secrets of a Long Life" Dan Buettner identified five regions as "Blue Zones" where there were high concentrations of individuals over 100 years old, but also clusters of people who had grown old without health problems like heart disease, obesity, cancer, or diabetes.

These Blue Zones are located in: • Sardinia, Italy • Okinawa, Japan • Loma Linda, California • Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica • Icaria, Greece 
Buettner provides a list of nine lessons, covering the lifestyle of blue zones people:

So I thought I’d share a few of my favourite recipes to help balance your immune system this autumn and winter.⁠

Root veg soups are ideal this time of year - warming, nutritious and comforting. Plus if you pack your soups with orange veggies – these are rich in beta-carotene, the plant-based form of Vitamin A so important for immune health. Carrots, butternut squash and pumpkin all make perfect bases for soups.⁠
.⁠
.⁠
And to top it off: why not try making your own toasted seeds. Just throw a handful of pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds into a dry pan. Allow them to toast, and keep moving them around. Once they’re golden and crispy, throw in a tablespoon of tamari or soya sauce, and a pinch of turmeric and cumin. Stir well and leave to cool.⁠

Speedy Slow Cooker Stews: I love a slow cooker stew. Perfect to put on in the morning, so you come home to a bowl of warm, nourishing deliciousness at the end of the day. Plus, if you make a big batch, you can freeze some for a later date.⁠

It’s amazing how simple it is to combat disease...eating healthy is the major KEY. Eliminate processed, sugary, and straight up toxic foods and drinks. If you sit here and tell me you “can’t give up soda or sweets” then not only are you lying to me you’re lying to yourself. The REAL reason you “can’t” is simply because you’re too lazy to change your life. Everyone wants to “be skinnier” or “be healthier” but if you don’t PUT IN THE WORK you will NEVER see those results you so desperately want!

What's up with gluten? 👇👇 Gluten is unique among proteins that we consume because unlike, say, the protein we get from eating a chicken breast, gluten is not completely digested by humans.

Protein from most sources will separate into its constituent amino acids during digestion, but gluten breaks down only into large fragments called peptides.

These fragments have been found to stimulate a more permeable gut in humans, triggering a welcoming from the innate immune system more similar to that of a bacterial invader than that of your usual dietary protein.

At the center of this response is another protein called zonulin, which is produced in the gut whenever gluten is present.

Zonulin acts as a cellular gatekeeper of sorts, regulating the integrity of the tight junctions in between epithelial cells..

Where there is zonulin, there is permeability. (Dr. Alessio Fasano, founder of Mass General’s Center for Celiac Research and an internationally recognized expert in celiac disease, is credited with having discovered this important mediator of gut permeability.).
