STRAWBERRY AND CREAM OATMEAL. . . . 1 cup water 1/2 cup old fashioned oats 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 cup chopped strawberries 1 tsp balsamic vinegar 2 tbsp greek yogurt 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp honey . . . 1) Combine in a small pot the water, oatmeal, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low. While oatmeal absorbs all the cinnamon scented water, get on with the strawberries. 2) in a small bowl combine strawberries and balsamic vinegar and with the back of a fork smash and mix until you have a strawberry mush then add the yogurt, vanilla, honey and mixx well. 3) once the water and oatmeal are absorbed, add in the strawberry mixture, and stir till all combined, let thicken for a few minutes, remove from heat and serve . . . It’s rare that I go a day without seeing an instagram post suggesting that eating grains will inevitably lead to inflammation and type 2 diabetes. While I’ll certainly tackle inflammation at some point, let’s dive into the diabetes claim. 🧐⁣ ⁣ It is true that some studies looking at total carbohydrate or grain consumption may find that higher intakes lead to higher type 2 diabetes risk, but that tells us nothing about the quality of the carbohydrates or grains that are being consumed. It is crucial to separate out whole grains from refined grains since they have very different nutrient profiles, fibre content, and impact on our health. 🥖⁣ ⁣ When this is done, whole grain consumption is consistently shown to reduce type 2 diabetes risk. This year, a comprehensive publication involving data from 3 prospective cohorts, totaling nearly 200,000 participants found that those consuming the most whole grains had a 29% lower risk of type 2 diabetes compared to those consuming the least. Upon further analysis they found that those consuming more whole grain cereal or whole wheat bread daily significantly lowered risk, while just 2 or more servings of oatmeal, brown rice, bran, or wheat germ lowered risk. 🍞⁣ ⁣ A 2017 meta-analysis found that 1 to 3 servings of whole grains per day resulted in the greatest reduction in type 2 diabetes risk of all food groups! To further support my earlier comments about quality, a 2013 meta-analysis found that 3 servings of whole grains per day reduces type 2 diabetes risk by 32%, while 1 serving of white rice per day increased risk by 23%. my new favourite way to breakfast!! salted caramel apple breakfast crumble🍎🍯 single serve, 6 ingredients, tastes like a dessert and makes your morning feel a little more magical - i highly recommend making this tomorrow morning to cure any potential monday blues anyhow, happy sunday evening all, i’m off to go and make (and then consume) a mountain of mashed potatoes😌 deats : • crumble 2/3 cup oat flour 1 tbsp peanut butter 1-2 tbsp maple syrup 1/2 tsp cinnamon mix the ingredients together till a crumble consistency forms, you might need to add more or less maple to get it to stick together nicely • Apple layer 1 chopped red apple 1/2 tsp cinnamon 2 chopped dates 1 tsp peanut butter microwave the apple in a small bowl with some water in, as this helps soften it first then add in the cinnamon, dates and peanut butter and stir it well to make a sticky texture add to an oven safe dish, and then put the crumble mixture on the top, sprinkle with a little sugar and bake for about 15 minutes on 180c i served with coconut yogurt and a touch more maple💫

deats :

• crumble
2/3 cup oat flour
1 tbsp peanut butter
1-2 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon

mix the ingredients together till a crumble consistency forms, you might need to add more or less maple to get it to stick together nicely

• Apple layer
1 chopped red apple
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 chopped dates
1 tsp peanut butter

microwave the apple in a small bowl with some water in, as this helps soften it first

then add in the cinnamon, dates and peanut butter and stir it well to make a sticky texture

add to an oven safe dish, and then put the crumble mixture on the top, sprinkle with a little sugar and bake for about 15 minutes on 180c

i served with coconut yogurt and a touch more maple💫

Chewy Oatmeal Cookies. . During this baking challenge I have realized I need an oatmeal cookie and a chocolate chip cookie that are perfect. This is not that recipe. I noted there might be too much butter and shortening because these cookies spread a lot. Also, I think the oven temperature could be reduced from 375 to 350. Fall is in the air and I’m ready for all things cozy and festive. I always love the holiday season, but this year I really feel myself soaking it all up. 🍁 I’ve started listening to Christmas music 🎶 and bought some Christmas 🎅🏼 home decor. I’ve also been contemplating baking a turkey and putting up our trees on Veteran’s Day. Today I made my favorite baked oatmeal and have applesauce bubbling in the crockpot. Yum 😋 How are you feeling this fall? Do you find yourself getting more excited than usual?

I avoided eating pomegranates for YEARS, because I used to be a lazy piece of sh*t and simply didn’t want to peel them. Not gonna lie here: I’d rather buy the grossly overpriced seeds instead. 🙊 𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓? (I obviously didn’t!). The insides of the amnion will float upwards while the seeds stay on the ground of the bowl. Plus, you won’t look like you’ve just slaughtered a horse afterwards. Good evening or whatever time it is where you live🌙 I had these plum baked oats a while ago and they were so good🤍 I'm really into baked oats at the moment, I make them every weekend Covid has gotten really bad in my area and we've been in lockdown light for a week now😬 As of tomorrow we're also not going to school regularly again. We're changing between groups A and B and sometimes both groups have to go but still be separated its really weird🤯 I really hope it doesn't stay that way for too long but at least I'm home more so that means I have time to cook and bake and maybe even post more again 🐼

BOTD: strawberry banana oatmeal

𝕠𝕒𝕥𝕞𝕖𝕒𝕝 𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕣𝕖𝕕𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕤:
- 1/2 cup plain rolled oats
- 1 cup of milk of your choice (or water)
- dash of cinnamon

𝕥𝕠𝕡𝕡𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕤:
- 1/2 ripe banana
- unsweetened fine coconut
- strawberries (fresh or frozen)

- poppy seeds

Boyfriend made these for me today 🥰 was delicious 🤤 We couldn't stop eating and actually had this as diner today with a glass of champagne 😅 life's about treating yourself and enjoying the little things right? Tell me what you think! Ingredients: - Pure chocolate (100g) - Butter (110g) - Eggs (2) - Eggyolks (2) - Sugar (100g) - Pastry flour (50g) - Pinch of salt Recipe: 1) Melt the chocolate with the butter on low heat 2) Mix the eggs and the eggyolks with the sugar 3) Add the flour and mix untill smooth 4) Add the molten chocolate and butter to the mix. Add a pinch of salt 5) Pour the mix in a piping bag and leave it a few hours in the fridge 6) Pre heat the oven at 210°C. Rub the insides of the serving rings with butter and flour. Pour the mix in the serving rings.
