Repost from @taranajaneen • Breonna Taylor was murdered back in MARCH. Her case came to light before George Floyd was murdered and was garnering some national attention. She is being mentioned less and less in the wake of Floyd’s murder. Although folks in Louisville, KY have been protesting in order to have her murderers arrested, they still remain free. Tomorrow would have been her 27th Birthday. Join us in celebrating her by participating in one of the activities posted in the link in my bio. #SayHerName #BreonnaTaylor #ALLBlacklivesMatter
Repost from @untilfreedom • 🚨🚨🚨MN Attorney General has increased charges against Derek Chauvin to 2nd degree murder and now ALL the officers have been charged and arrested in the murder of #GeorgeFloyd. We do not yet know what the other 3 have been charged with. This is NOT enough, we need CONVICTIONS. Do not let anyone tell you that protest and organizing does not work. It works. Stay loud. This is a marathon folks, stay focused. We are winning, together. We are feeling grateful for all the organizers, protesters, organizations and supporters in every corner of this country - especially our Minneapolis fam. George Floyd’s murder will not be in vain. Back to work. The officers who murdered #BreonnaTaylor still have not been arrested or charged.
This is our beloved family friend @william.bigby. He wrote this poem a year ago and read it for the community. I never forgot hearing him speak these words . Today , he asked if I would consider sharing his poem and so, here it is ... ‘ Is This What You Want ?’ From @william.bigby to each and every one of you . Please listen and share with anyone who may need to hear this ..
Thank you @bnewmanphoto for this picture of Christian Cooper. #Girlgaze #repost @nytimes ・・・ Christian Cooper has been birding since he was 10. His lifelong fascination with birds endured through his time at Harvard and into his years as an editor for Marvel Comics. He has fed his passion with birding trips to Central Park and around the world, but has been keenly aware that few other African-American men appear to be invested in the hobby. “We should be out here,” Cooper said. “The birds belong to all of us. The birds don’t care what color you are.” On Tuesday, a video went viral, showing a white woman calling the police on Cooper after he asked her to leash her dog in an area of Central Park where it is required. The video, filmed by Cooper, shows the woman falsely claiming “an African-American man is threatening my life.” The video set off a painful discourse about the history of dangerous false accusations against black people made to the police. By the end of Tuesday, the woman, Amy Cooper, had surrendered her dog and was fired from her high-level finance job. “Any of us can make — not necessarily a racist mistake, but a mistake,” Christian Cooper said. “And to get that kind of tidal wave in such a compressed period of time, it’s got to hurt. It’s got to hurt. I’m not excusing the racism, but I don’t know if her life needed to be torn apart.”
Getting killed by the police is the sixth leading cause of death for young black men in America. This is George Floyd. He should be alive. Justice for George Floyd now. Instead of sharing the video of the violence against him, text FLOYD to 55156 to demand that the officers who took his life are charged. ( #Repost @tessamaethompson)
I made this episode of @theconversation Podcast, because I’ve been thinking how crucial it is that we remember every life lost to Covid 19 as a human being, not just a statistic. When I woke up Sunday morning and saw the powerful @nytimes cover story detailing 1,000 of the 100,000 names of Covid deaths , I knew today is a good time to share @jamiesonwebster ‘s story from the frontline and working inside one of the hardest hit hospitals in the U.S . Please note the TRIGGER WARNING as this episode contains audio from inside a Covid Hospital . (Link in Bio) Please consider sharing this interview as many states in America prepare to “ reopen “ . Thank you ...
I’ve been thinking a lot about what joy means to me, and what brings me joy . The truth is that it’s a short list. Somewhere near the top of my list is this dog, who my son and I fostered & then fell in love with. This boy came from @dove_project all the way from Korea where he was destined to become dog soup . He’s a real trauma dog, and I’m a real trauma survivor, so we are a great fit for each other. He was afraid of literally everyone and everything expect me and my son until the last 8 weeks .He brings me such joy, because every day I get to see how love truly does heal. And when I can’t see the growth in myself and I forget how far I’ve come , I can see it in him. We have no idea who the messengers are, or where the road signs of guidance will appear ... and as the world around me and my internal world have slowed down, I’m paying attention to the signs so much more than before this crisis hit .. That’s my gratitude for the day , thought I would share it as I have no idea when I’ll get another gratitude wave like this one !!
I am a product of all the women who raised me, my own mother and the many, many others who mothered me at crucial moments of my life . I’ve been a mother since age 19 and it is the hardest and most rewarding gift that there ever was . My 3 kids have been my motivation for every single impossibly hard thing I have attempted, both personally and professionally. Without them I would not be who I am today . (But I sure as hell would have a lot more time to take it easy ...) #MothersDay2020
#AhmaudArbery should be alive . Two white supremacist men hunted and murdered him whilst he was jogging. Currently there are no arrests or charges brought against the killers. **UPDATE** 🌟Both men have been arrested and face charges of aggravated assault and the murder of Ahmaud Arbery 🌟 Let your outrage and grief inspire your action . Please Text Justice to 55156 . And call 912-554-7200 to demand that District Attorney George Barnhill and Jackie Johnson resign . #iRunWithMaud #JusticeForAhmaud #AhmaudArbery Art @nikkolas_smith
So many people have been asking me to make more of this show, which I made from my living room 7 years ago with @demimoore as my fearless Executive Producer. Eternally grateful to everyone who said yes before interviewing womxn and hiring all female crews was a thing .. Sharing our stories and how we overcome adversity remains as crucial today as it was when we made this show . Here is one of my fav episodes with @gwynethpaltrow Paltrow @janefonda @zoesaldana Saldana and @sarahkatesilverman . #theconversation @theconversation

This convicted sex offender was jailed for 23 YEARS this morning . The sentencing is groundbreaking and a victory for all the women who collectively came forward to share their painful truths. Thank you to all the whistle blowers and survivors who risked so much personally and professionally to make this possible. #WeinsteinSentencing #23Years
Women did this.... . Women, who individually overcame personal fear , trauma and shame , and collectively created an undeniable and united narrative. Which today, resulted in two charges of guilty , one count of rape and one count of committing a criminal sexual act. Despite Weinstein not being acquitted on the two most serious charges of predatory sexual assault, which each carried a potential life sentence, today sets a phenomenal precedent and is a massive win . Forever in deep gratitude for each and every one of you who spoke , reported and supported this groundbreaking day being possible . NOTE : The Silence Breakers list is only a partial list of women who spoke up , there are many more who have helped this verdict. #NeverUnderEstimateThePowerOfWomen
Here’s what I said last year when there was first a whisper of Roe V Wade being threatened. Sadly the threat still stands today. I wish it weren’t the case , but it is . That’s why I’m posting this AGAIN , that’s why I’m sharing films , information and action steps from @Naral in my feed . Because we cannot lose what is , in my opinion a very fundamental right ; the option to choose what we do with our bodies . Happy 47 th Birthday Roe V Wade , let’s make sure you are here for many years to come !
Repost @girlgaze : This is the world we want to live in. This is the future we are fighting for. 77% of Americans say they don’t want to see Roe v. Wade overturned. The new short film by @PPFA and @AbortionStories, “Ours to Tell,” is a call for compassion and shows us the world we’re fighting for — one where ALL people have FREEDOM over their own bodies. Watch. Share. And stand up for abortion access. Full film: ourstotell.org @venturelandstudio in association with @prettybirdpic #OursToTell #ROEvWADE #girlgaze
TRIGGER WARNING - The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office has filed charges of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by use of force and sexual battery by restraint, according to a news release issued Monday morning. Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey “We believe the evidence will show that the defendant used his power and influence to gain access to his victims and then commit crimes against them,” Lacey said in a statement. “I want to commend the victims who have come forward and bravely recounted what happened to them.”
I know today is the Golden Globes ( yet another year with no womxn director nominated ) but I’m thinking about the #Weinstein trial that starts tomorrow in NYC. And most importantly, the many women who spoke up about their horrendous experiences with him. We are forever indebted to each and everyone of you, the ones who went on record , the #SilenceBreakers and those who have chosen to remain anonymous, because without your bravery tomorrow’s trial would never be possible. Please read the article by @jodikantor ( link in bio) for what to expect from this trial in the coming weeks. ( and apologies to those I was not able to tag , I don’t have everyone’s social and not all of you are on social )

To our incredible community: thank you for another beautiful year. Looking back at 2019, we are absolutely in awe of the work you’ve created and your impeccable taste. These are some of the photos we shared this year that received the most likes. Collectively, these images paint a portrait of the world we wish to live in. One in which diversity is a core value. One in which breastfeeding and menstruation are seen as the beautiful acts of nature they are. One in which trans and GNC individuals, as well the entire LGBTQIA community, are celebrated as gorgeous, complex human beings and admired for their honesty and resilience. One in which all bodies are seen as valid goddess forms worthy of love — especially those with disabilities, wrinkles, body hair, stretch marks. Together, we can create this future. To accomplish this goal, we must continue promoting and hiring female and non-binary creatives, those who highlight these individuals and themes that are often marginalized and underrepresented. This year, we hired 378 creatives for jobs around the world, capturing inspiring, authentic representations of women and non-binary people. This includes our Project #ShowUs with Dove and Getty, which happens to be one of our 2019 most-liked photos above — not to mention won a Glass Lion award! Thank you again to our wonderful community for making this all possible and, through your work, continuing to challenge the status quo and creating the type of world we want to live in. In 2020, you can count on us to do everything we can to help create that world. We’ll continue putting our hearts into closing the gender gap one job at a time via our jobs platform, the Girlgaze Network. And, soon, we’ll be bringing brand partners onto the platform to create even MORE paid jobs opportunities and launch projects that get more eyes on your work than ever before. We can feel it in our bones: 2020 is going to be an incredible year. So much love, Amanda & the Girlgaze team x❤️ Photos by the very talented @jadebeallphotography, @marianrrea, @vanessafilley, @lottevanraalte, @emmawondra, @allthatjasss, @gracecoudal, @jocelynleephotography, @sophiekietzmann, @alinacelik
I haven’t had much to say lately . So I’ve been quiet and listening more than I talk . Which means I’ve been off social media for more than I’ve been on it over the last 2 months. I have to be honest , I did not want to show up and talk about myself on @secondlifepod . Because there are times for sharing , talking , engaging , putting yourself out there and there are times to slow down , go inward and be still . And that’s where I’m at ...But, because I truly am trained to show up one day at at time for all of my adult life ( & for those of you who also live by this , YOU KNOW ) I got to show up and sit with my wonderful friend @hillarykerr and listen to her incredibly smart and insightful questions about my very unconventional career which started when I was age 15 . If you want to hear me tell stories and listen to her excellent interview skills then; link in bio .. and if today is a day that you want to talk more then listen , then save it for another day . @secondlifepod

Look who is home and waiting for his dinner like nothing happened !! We just found Simba in the Park @ 10:30 pm after 9 hours of searching all over South Pasadena . I want to thank everyone , all the kind people who shared my post and those who showed up to help look for my pup tonight in the dark with flashlights. Today I have been overwhelmed by the kindness of complete strangers, and by the power of social media which turned up valuable info about where he was last seen. Thanks so very much InstaFam !!!!! 💗😘🐶
My heart hurts for all that this woman is dealing with . New motherhood and a new marriage , all through the brutal lens of the UK tabloid press . I left the UK ( never to move back ) shortly after my first baby was born because of how merciless and vile the media was and still is in the UK . Toxic tabloid culture needs to stop, because it truly is a mental health issue when you are the target , which this incredible woman has become . Handled with powerful vulnerability #meganmarkle [email protected]
Being able to sit with women who deeply inspire me every week is keeping my spirit nourished in such a needed way . I’ve wanted to interview @milano_alyssa for a long time .She has been using her voice to shed light on the shit that really matters for so many years . I have admired her humanism from afar and am grateful for her honesty and vulnerability on this weeks @theconversation .. link in BIO .. enjoy this one friends and pls text me your thoughts on this episode to my contact number in my profile @spotify
A year ago today , within 24 hours of the letter to Dr.Ford being published, I got a DM from someone who follows me on Insta, telling me she had shown Dr.Ford the letter and asked if she could connect me to Dr Ford directly . ( thank you Tina 💕) . There are many things I could share that I have come to know and adore about Christine Ford over the last year , but what stands out most is; her intelligence, humility, kindness, humor , integrity and commitment to the truth .Celebrating you today and every day Christine 😘💗🙋
CW Sexual Assault: Chanel Miller was known to the world as Emily Doe when her victim’s statement resonated with millions. This is my beloved friend @demimoore with her brand new Memoir “ Inside Out “.There is not enough space in one post to describe the blessing it is to know and love this human and her family. Her memoir is a perfect reflection of who she is; profoundly honest, brave , humble and endlessly generous in every way . The stories she has shared in her book are a true insight, into a woman who has been a pioneer , challenging stereotypes and advocating for equal pay in Hollywood, long before anyone else. She is a survivor, a truth seeker, she’s funny, smart, kind and loyal.I’m so excited for any of you who read her book to get to know Demi for the brilliant trailblazer that she is . 💗You D #ProudFriend #InsideOut
It is always such an honor when I get to interview women I admire, who share their brave and personal journeys on @theconversation Podcast . @lakebell is my guest this week and I’m deeply thankful she talked about how hard it was to recover from the extremely traumatic birth of her son and the depression that followed . We also talk about being kids from a divorced home and how that affects your relationship to marriage as well as how to overcome trust issues. Link in BIO ! @spotify
She Said is the story behind the story, that helped open the floodgates of sharing work place assault experiences for women ( and men and trans women and non-binary individuals) in an unprecedented way . @mega2e and my ever inspiring friend @jodikantor are the journalists behind the unforgettable @nytimes story that ended the #Weinstein tyranny of Hollywood . There are no words to express the gratitude that I personally have for these women and if NPR’s assessment is accurate “ this is a feminist version of All the Presidents Men “ then we are all in for an incredible read . Please pre-order at link in BIO.
Even though I champion the female gaze with all my heart , @therealpeterlindbergh ‘s gaze was unique and beautiful . He photographed older women with lines and wrinkles which he didn’t retouch out , women in suits , women without make up and messy hair . He allowed women to be whoever they were . In his images , I so often saw the imperfections of his subject but shown with such admiration and care . His incredible legacy of work is a true and lasting homage to his deep respect and love for womankind. #ripPeterlindbergh
There is a lot of lip service towards “ women supporting women “ - But support is an action and this moment between @ naomiosaka and @ cocogauff is what true care and sisterhood looks like . A powerful reminder that there is room for all of us and even when you “ win “ it’s important to keep one hand out stretched to those behind you and one hand open to those in front of you . #ClassAct Video #Reposted from @ellenpompeo
